Rabbi DovidBielory exemplifies the warmth and personalized attention to each student that epitomizes Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael. When the school opened, the most important foundation for success was established with our very first rebbe, Rabbi Bielory. Always gracious, ever-encouraging, Rabbi Bielory continues to set the tone for growth.
Rabbi Bielory and his wife, Elisheva, are role models for all of New England with their commitment to learning and teaching Torah and community involvement.
After many years of dedicated study at Yeshiva Ner Israel in Baltimore, where Rabbi Bielory received Smicha while also completing a Masters Degree in Counseling from Johns Hopkins, the Bielorys moved to Providence, RI as founding members of the Providence Kollel. Rabbi Bielory continues to give shiurim in the community and is involved as a board member of several Providence institutions.
Prior to teaching at YOY, he taught at NEHA and Bais Yakov of Boston and has for many years run a camp in Onset, MA, allowing learning to continue through the summer.
Rabbi Bielory is an outstanding role model for what we hope every YOY graduate can accomplish and we are pleased to show our appreciation through the Torah Leadership Award.
Mr. Josh and Mrs. Beth Sydney
Community Builders Award
The Community Builder Award is being presented to Mr. Josh and Mrs. Beth Sydney in recognition of their involvement in the recently celebrated building expansion of Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael. The attention to detail and ultimate completion of the building is a credit to our project manager, Josh, who shepherded the entire process with the students’ success in mind. From the view of the reservoir to the chemistry lab to the beautiful beis medrash, Josh ensured no detail was overlooked.
As important as the construction, the education and commitment to Jewish continuity is equally important to the Sydneys. Beth (Shrager’s) family has a deep value and involvement in Jewish education. Josh’s family has a long history of philanthropic support of Jewish education.
The Sydneys are active community members, currently living in Newton with their children, ages 2,6,8 and 10. Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael thanks the Sydneys for their engagement in community building.
